(Honolulu)– The Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii – Spalding Clubhouse will be offering a new web-based educational program called Study Island to local fifth graders. The program will be offered on Tues, Wed and Thurs evenings from 5:30-6:30pm at the Spalding Clubhouse Media Center. The program capacity is set at 16 youth.
Study Island helps students master the specific content outlined in Hawaii’s state and Common Core standards, and improve performance in skill areas tested in state assessments. Students practice, review and reinforce key concepts, and Study Island pinpoints areas of mastery or where help is needed. For more information on Study Island, visit www.studyisland.com. A Boys & Girls Club Youth Development Professional assists students with the program.
The cost of the quarter-long program is $45. A limited number of reduced-price scholarships are available for students who qualify for reduced school lunch ($30 program fee) or free school lunch ($15 program fee). Parent/guardian must show documentation for reduced or free school lunch qualification. Youth must become a member of the Boys & Girls Club to participate if they are not already a member (additional cost is only $1). This includes completing and signing the membership application packet and attaching a copy of the child’s birth certificate or other proof of age.
