(Honolulu) – An exciting mix of fusion shabu shabu, delicious appetizers and more is coming to Niu Valley Center. Cafe Asia, owned by husband and wife Chen Pan and Kylee Lin, is scheduled to open Sept. 27, blending bold flavors with colorful presentation that families will enjoy.
Cafe Asia brings a fresh, unique take on shabu shabu, fusing flavors inspired by Japan, Taiwan, China and Korea.
“This is food for families, like my mom used to make,” said Pan. “Presentation is just as important as flavor, so our dishes will look as good as they taste.”
Cafe Asia boasts an extensive list of shabu shabu broth flavors including Kimchi, Butter Miso, Mushroom Jambalaya, Spicy Crab, Tom Yum, Ma La (traditional Chinese pork bone broth) and more. Two delicious vegetarian broths are also available. Protein selections include beef ribeye, organic chicken, pork loin and belly, lamb, seafood and more.
Explore other flavorful creations, such as Side Street Clams (stir fried spicy butter clams, with garlic black bean sauce), Furikake Bang Bang Shrimp (deep fried shrimp, with sriracha aioli sauce and furikake), Crispy Salmon Roll (deep fried salmon and cheese roll topped with tobiko) and more.
“Our dishes use high quality ingredients and taste homemade, with our own recipes,” Pan said. “Like our signature Cafe Asia Pot Stickers, which are a delicious fusion of pork and whole shrimp that is uniquely ours.”
In addition to its fusion shabu shabu menu, Cafe Asia also serves tasty desserts, including fried ice cream and naturally flavored shave ice.
Pan, who has two decades of experience in the food and beverage industry, adds that prices will be reasonable so that families can enjoy a tasty, satisfying shabu shabu experience, right in their neighborhood.
Lin is excited for their first restaurant endeavour in Hawaii and invites the community to experience what Cafe Asia has to offer, in East Oahu.
“We’re very passionate about food and Cafe Asia is a place that we want families to enjoy,” Lin said.
The family-friendly restaurant will also offer Happy Hour specials, from 4 to 6 p.m. Cafe Asia also offers an all-day $5 Keiki Menu. With unique shabu shabu broths, delicious pupu items, desserts and a variety of beer, wine and specialty cocktails, there’s something for the entire ohana to enjoy at Cafe Asia.
