(Honolulu) – A variety of City and County of Honolulu departments will be participating in the Hawaii Career Expo, presented by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, on January 31, 2024 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Neal Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall.
The Hawaii Career Expo will feature 21 different City and County of Honolulu departments that are currently hiring for a variety of contract and civil service positions, and representatives will be on-site to share information about available job openings. Interested job seekers are welcome to visit the City’s booths to learn more about opportunities in fields like engineering, information technology, law enforcement, planning and development and more.
Mayor Rick Blangiardi has repeatedly emphasized during his time in office that filling vacancies across all City departments remains a top priority in 2024. The City’s Department of Human Resources has increased efforts to expedite the timeline for applicants seeking employment with the City, with promising results.
“Creating efficiency in our hiring process enables us to compete better for quality applicants in a tight labor market, in addition to providing a positive experience to job seekers,” said Nola Miyasaki, the director of the City’s Department of Human Resources. “In less than 16 months the City has reduced the time to hire by 50%, speeding up the process for departments wanting to hire as well as for potential candidates looking for a job with the City. This is an important aspect of modernizing our talent management functions across the City.”
Any Hawaiʻi residents looking for employment are encouraged to stop by the Hawaii Career Expo at the Blaisdell Center to learn more about why the City and County of Honolulu has been recognized for the second consecutive year as one of Forbes’ best-in-state employers.
According to the Hawaii Career Expo’s website, attendees may present a printed copy of their resume at the door to receive free admission. Pre-registration is highly recommended by visiting http://hawaiicareerexpo.com.
