(Honolulu)–The City and County of Honolulu Department of Facility Maintenance, Storm Water Quality Division, is notifying the public of an upcoming rehabilitation project at 2759 Piliwai Street in the vicinity of Kupehau Slopes.
Construction is scheduled to begin on January 29, 2026, and is expected to be completed by April 30, 2026. Work hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
JBC Engineering & Construction LLC will construct a new concrete rock masonry wall and complete related asphalt and concrete pavement improvements. Project work includes clearing and grubbing, tree removal, demolition of existing stone walls and pavement, asphalt repaving, and concrete paving. These improvements are intended to address ongoing erosion in the area.
During construction, Piliwai Street, which provides access to the work site, will experience increased activity from construction vehicles and equipment. Temporary impacts to parking are expected, with some parking areas adjacent to the site limited or unavailable. The nearby park and hiking trails will remain open, although parking access may be restricted during the project.
The contractor will coordinate and manage local traffic needs for residents and businesses, including access for deliveries, waste collection, and emergency services. All affected areas will be restored upon completion of the work.
Every effort will be made to complete this essential project as efficiently as possible and to minimize impacts to the surrounding community. Some dust and noise are anticipated, and appropriate measures will be taken to reduce construction-related impacts. The City appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this work is completed to improve infrastructure and protect the surrounding area.
