(HONOLULU) – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction (DDC) advises the public that rock slide mitigation work along Koko Drive in the Kaimukī area is expected to start on June 10, 2024, and will last approximately four months.
This work includes rock scaling, installing rock anchors and applying “shotcrete,” which is concrete sprayed onto the cliffside. The project is part of a preventative maintenance program to address potential rock slide hazards and improve public safety.
We understand the inconvenience this may cause and have taken steps to minimize disruption. Contractor work hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. When necessary, a single-lane traffic contraflow may be implemented on Koko Drive between 3908 Koko Drive and Paula Drive. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to expect delays and asked to observe all construction signs and use caution while in the area.
Questions and comments can be directed to the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction at (808) 768-8400.
