(Maui)– An online workshop for volunteer coordinators in Maui County will cover topics including trends in volunteerism and strategies for attracting volunteers.
The free training session will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, the County of Maui Volunteer Center, HandsOn Maui, announced.
According to the center, volunteerism has shifted significantly in the post-pandemic world, with organizations nationwide reporting increasing difficulties in recruiting the volunteer support they need. The workshop will delve into the latest research on volunteerism and provide practical strategies for designing and targeting recruitment efforts that resonate with today’s volunteers.
Betsy McFarland, a certified volunteer administrator and principal at Adisa, will lead the session. She specializes in training, coaching and assessments for effective volunteer engagement and co-directs the Initiative for Strategic Volunteer Engagement for The Leighty Foundation.
The workshop will include small group discussions and full-group sharing opportunities. Those attending can learn practical, research-based strategies for attracting volunteers.
