(HONOLULU) – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Environmental Services (ENV) and Board of Water Supply are still asking residents and businesses in the ‘Ewa Beach community to conserve water starting today following yesterday’s force main break at the ‘Ewa Beach Wastewater Pump Station located at 814 Makule Road.
Approximately 83,000 gallons of raw wastewater spilled since Friday. Crews recovered 54,000 gallons with the remaining total dissipating into the ground.
A construction crew is expected to be onsite Sunday morning to begin repairs, which may take most of the day and possibly into Monday. Currently, ENV tanker trucks onsite and in the vicinity of the break.
Residents are asked to only use water minimally for essential daily activities and avoid doing loads of laundry, using the dishwasher, and taking long showers.
