(Hawaii)– As part of an ongoing effort to keep keiki, parents and educators engaged during the State of Hawaiʻi‘s stay-at-home order, the Waikīkī Aquarium has unveiled a variety of free virtual experiences and online educational resources for both residents and visitors to enjoy.
“While the Waikīkī Aquarium is currently closed to the public in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we still want to provide people with the opportunity to explore the rich ocean educational resources the Aquarium has to offer,” said Andrew Rossiter, director of the Waikīkī Aquarium.
The new online experiences, live classes and educational videos will kick-off beginning April 15 on the WaikīkīAquarium website and social media profiles:
Marine Animal Drawing Lessons with Patrick Ching
Streaming on Facebook Live, Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m.
Begins on April 15
This five-part series features 15-minute drawing sessions with talented Hawaiʻi nature artist Patrick Ching. Ching will instruct keiki how to draw a Hawaiian monk seal, shark, kilikili, dolphin and turtle. The drawing lessons with Patrick Ching are sponsored by the Friends of the Waikīkī Aquarium.

The Waikīkī Aquarium is partnering with the NOAA National Marine Sanctuaries and other marine-focused agencies to present educational and interactive social media content, including DIY craft ideas, coloring sheets, 360-degree videos and more.
Waikīkī Aquarium Webcams
New webcams installed at the Aquarium
For the ultimate immersive experience, the aquarium has installed three webcams throughout its facilities in order to showcase its diverse marine life. Current aquarium webcams showcase the Hawaiian monk seal Hōʻailona, the south shore of Waikīkī and the Aquarium Galleries.
