(Kauai) – The Kaua’i Fire Prevention and Ocean Safety bureaus will be promoting fire and ocean safety on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Home Depot in Līhu‘e.
The promotions are part of Home Depot’s free monthly Kids Workshop, which teaches tool safety through do-it-yourself craft projects designed for children of all ages.
“Home Depot has graciously donated 300 smoke alarms for the Hawai’i Fire Chief’s Association to give away this Saturday to families in need,” stated Fire Chief Robert Westerman. “In addition to giving away those smoke alarms, our department will be promoting fire prevention and ocean safety through various family-friendly activities.”
Sparky’s Fire Safety House and several firefighters will be on site to demonstrate what children should do in the event of a fire in the home.
Lifeguards will also be on site to promote beach safety and showcase jet skis and other life-saving equipment used by the Ocean Safety Bureau.
“This is a great way for families to learn more about ocean and fire safety in a fun, safe and interactive setting, and we encourage families to join us this Saturday,” added Chief Westerman.
