(LĪHU’E) – As part of the West Kaua‘i Community Plan process, a series of 10 workshops, focused on five topics, are scheduled for the Hanapēpē-‘Ele‘ele area, Waimea, and Kekaha. The first set of workshops are scheduled for Nov. 13 and Nov. 14. The focus will be on Shared Spaces which include parks, trails, and other gathering places.
“West side residents are the experts when it comes to how and where their communities can be improved,” said Deputy Planning Director Ka‘aina Hull. “At the end of the day, this is their plan.”
To facilitate resident participation, all workshops are scheduled in the evenings and dinner will be provided.
The schedule is as follows:
Shared Spaces Focused Workshops(both workshops have a regional focus)
- Tuesday, Nov. 13
5 to 7 p.m.
Hanapēpē Hawaiian Congregation Church - Wednesday, Nov. 14
5 to 7 p.m.
Kekaha Neighborhood Center
Housing and Infrastructure Focused Workshops
- Tuesday, Dec. 11
5 to 7 p.m.
Kekaha Neighborhood Center
*Focus is on Waimea-Kekaha - Wednesday, Dec. 12
5 to 7 p.m.
Hanapēpē Library
*Focus is on Hanapēpē-‘Ele‘ele area
Workshops on economic development, heritage resources, and transportation are scheduled for 2019. More information will be announced at a future time.
