(Maui) – Business owners interested in reducing their cost of doing business in Maui County are invited to a free workshop on the Hawaii Enterprise Zones Partnership Program.
The workshop, which is being held in partnership by the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development (OED) and the State Dept. of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. – noon at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center Haynes Meeting Room in Kahului. Government officials from both DBEDT and OED will be on-hand to answer questions.
The session will include information on the Enterprise Zones (EZ) program, which was created to help stimulate certain types of businesses in areas that could benefit by the increase in employment by supporting industry development in areas such as agriculture, IT, biotechnology and others. An EZ is a specific geographic area targeted for economic revitalizing.
“This workshop offers business owners a valuable opportunity to learn whether their business qualifies for this cost-saving program,” said Mayor Alan Arakawa. “Businesses of all sizes are truly the backbone of our economy, and this is one way we can help support their success and longevity in the marketplace.”
“We are very pleased to work with Maui County on our outreach to current Enterprise Zone companies and new, prospective participants,” stated Luis P. Salaveria, director, State Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism (DBEDT). “Because DBEDT has invested in the conversion to an online application and reporting platform, the benefits of the EZ Program are now more accessible to small businesses throughout the State of Hawaii. We look forward to our continued partnership with Maui County to connect with and support Maui businesses.”
