“‘H2O’ is one of the most ambitious and exciting projects HTY has ever produced,” HTY Artistic Director Eric Johnson said. “We are surrounded by water. Our bodies are made primarily of water. We drink it, play in it, depend on it for life, but how many of us really understand the stories and the science behind this important substance?”
The extraordinary musical floods the senses as HTY’s cast of “Water Warriors” (alternately scientists, activists and rock stars) explores the cultural, historical, environmental and physical properties of water through song, humor and interactive story telling. At the close of each performance, different “Water Heroes” from the surrounding community will take the stage and share their knowledge on an aspect of water in the islands.
The neighbor island touring production of H20, THE STORY OF WATER AND HAWAII is performed by Alvin Chan, Sean Joseph Choo, Moses Goods and Tina Uyeno. Directed by Nathaniel Niemi. Set design is by Jennifer Eccles, costume design is by Cheryl Flaharty, sound design is by Paul James Prendergast, stage manager is Jennifer Eccles.
Tour sponsors are Hawaii State Department of Health—Healthy Hawaii Initiative, Hawaii State Department of Health—Safe Drinking Water Branch, Fresh Water Fund of the Hawaii Community Foundation, Ulupono Initiative, NOAA , Hawaii State Department of Land and Natural Resources, HMSA and Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation.
