(Kaneohe)– Closed since August, Windward Community College’s Imaginarium will reopen its doors to the public on November 9 at 7 p.m. with fulldome show Tales of the Maya Skies. The Imaginarium’s renovation has increased the theater’s seating capacity from 66 to 83. In addition to the new comfortable, lounge-style seating, the Imaginarium’s older projection equipment was removed to allow for maximum viewing of the full dome from every seat.
Tales of the Maya Skies will kick off the Imaginarium’s Fall 2012 schedule, which also includes live monthly Stargazing and show favorites Magic Tree House Space Mission, Maunakea Between Earth and Sky and Earth, Moon and Sun.
Special Showings:
November 23, 10 a.m., Magic Tree House Space Mission
December 21, 7 p.m., Tales of the Maya Skies
To showcase the theater’s new look, the Imaginarium will offer a twist on two favorite shows this fall. The first is a rare public morning show of the immensely popular Magic Tree House Space Mission on Friday, November 23 at 10 a.m. The second special show is Tales of the Maya Skies on December 21 at 7 p.m. Frequently misreported as the date the Mayans predict the world will end, the Imaginarium staff will take aim to dispel the misconceptions by answering audience questions about the Mayan calendar after the show.
