(LÎHU‘E) – Kaua‘i RSVP, an organization that’s part of the Agency on Elderly Affairs, announced today the kick-off of a collection drive that will benefit the YWCA of Kaua‘i’s Women’s Shelter.
“We are collecting travel size hygiene products to donate to the YWCA Women’s Shelter as part of the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance,” said RSVP Director Celia Melchor-Questin. “Contributions toward this effort would be greatly appreciated.”
Among the products being collected for children are diapers, baby powder, baby wipes, combs and brushes, while deodorant and razors are being collected for women.
Other items that will be accepted are toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner.
The supplies can be dropped off Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Agency on Elderly Affairs/Kaua‘i RSVP. The office is located at the Lîhu‘e Civic Center, 4444 Rice Street, Suite 330. The deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Additionally, Big K-Mart and Times Supermarket in Lîhu‘e will accept donations toward this effort on two Saturdays, Aug. 29 and Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance was established in 2002 as an annual tradition of engaging in charitable service paying tribute to the 9/11 victims, survivors, and those who rose up in service in response to the attacks.
