(Maui) – The County of Maui Department of Housing and Human Concerns announced that Kaunoa’s Assisted Transportation Program is in immediate need of volunteers to help transport West Maui seniors to appointments and back to their homes.
Volunteers are needed on various days between Mondays and Fridays, and at various times. Transportation services are provided for medical appointments, business appointments, shopping for essentials, adult day care centers, visits to nursing homes, and other client requests.
Candidates must have a valid driver’s license as well as a reliable car with current registration, insurance and safety check. Training is provided. Qualified volunteers are also eligible to receive partial mileage reimbursement.
Kaunoa’s Assisted Transportation Program provides critical assistance to persons 60 and older who have limited means of transportation and require support in order to maintain an independent lifestyle and continue to live in their own homes. Seniors are assessed for eligibility prior to receiving Assisted Transportation services and priority is given to those in most need of assistance.
