(LĪHU‘E) – The Kaua‘i Committee on the Status of Women (KCSW) invites the public to a free event to celebrate Women’s History Month on Thursday, March 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Historic Museum courtyard.
Major General (retired) Mary Kay Hertog will be sharing her journey of service as a decorated member of the U.S. Air Force. Major General Hertog was the first woman to be selected as the Director of Security Forces and also the first female to command a Numbered Air Force. She retired in October 2012 after nearly 34 years of distinguished service.
Major General Hertog now serves on the Kaua‘i Police Commission and as a tutor for the Hawai‘i Literacy program.
In honor of this year’s theme, “Weaving the stories of women’s lives,” KCSW welcomes all members of the public to attend and bring the women in their lives to share stories of inspiration.
Light refreshments will be served.
The KCSW is part of the Hawai‘i State Commission on the Status of Women, which strives to advance the status of women and girls by acting as a catalyst for positive change through advocacy, education, collaboration and program development.
