(Kauai) – The Department of Public Works announces that Menehune Road near the Waimea Swinging Bridge will be closed on April 20 and April 21, from 7:30 am. to 5 p.m.
This closure is necessary to allow Kaikor Construction to install a permanent tower to the Waimea Swinging Bridge as well as other essential permanent components.
In addition, the Waimea Swinging Bridge will also be closed to pedestrian access during this installation work.
The Public Works Roads Division will provide road closure signage during this closure.
The State Department of Land and Natural Resources’ (DLNR) alternate emergency access route from Waimea Canyon Drive, known as Panini Road, is open to local residents and first responders via 4 x 4 usage only. Motorists are urged to drive slowly and cautiously through the area.
