“Our Queen’s ohana is looking forward to serving our state and most importantly the West Oahu community,” said Susan Murray, senior vice president of The Queen’s Health Systems, West Oahu Region, and chief operating officer of The Queen’s Medical Center – West O‘ahu. “Everyone has been working hard together as a team and we are ready to provide our patients with access to quality healthcare at a state-of-the-art facility without having to travel into Honolulu.”
Services will include those essential to a community hospital such as emergency room, inpatient and outpatient surgery, imaging, cardiology and specialty clinics. The hospital will have 80 beds upon opening and will increase up to 135 beds as volume increases.
Located on the former Hawaii Medical Center (HMC) West campus, Queen’s officially acquired HMC West from St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii on Dec. 14, 2012.
The Queen’s Medical Center was founded in 1859 by Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV. The opening date of May 20 also coincides with the birthday of the King and Queen’s beloved son, Prince Albert.
