(Maui) – In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day today, January 21, Kaunoa’s Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and the State Department of Human Services, Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs, will honor Dr. King’s legacy by collecting NEW slippers or sandals to be distributed to local service agencies to help economically disadvantaged people/families get back on their feet again. The partner agencies are all members of the National Senior Service Corps and are joining other Senior Corps programs throughout the State of Hawaii on special projects such as this.
From now through January 30, NEW slippers and sandals of all sizes may be dropped off at either Kaunoa Spreckelsville or West Maui Senior Center locations, and at the University of Hawaii – Maui College, CTAHR office, Building 214.
