(Kauai)– Comfortable new seats have replaced the old worn-out seats at the Kaua’i War Memorial Convention Hall, and in December the carpeting in the facility will be changed out.
“I’m very happy with the seat replacement project,” remarked Eddie Sarita, manager of the convention hall. “The manufacturer sent a representative to Kaua’i to mark the floor off so the contractor could install the rows of seats along an arch. It was a challenging project and the results are great. He even painted the concrete floor, which added a nice touch.”
Sarita also noted that approximately 900 of the old seats were brought to Puhi Metals Recycling Center for recycling, while 200 of them were picked up for re-use by a community organization.
The next big project planned for the convention hall is the carpet replacement, which is scheduled to start on Dec. 17. In addition, the sound baffles over the stage and on the sides will undergo a thorough cleaning.
Event organizers will also be pleased to hear that the existing stove in the kitchen will be changed to a 48” Wolf gas range.
Other improvements that were made to the convention hall over the past year include: replacement of the theatre curtains and the installation of new granite countertops and a tankless water heater.
