(Honolulu)– The Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii – Spalding Clubhouse will be hosting its first annual Day for Kids Carnival on Saturday September 28th from 9:00am-1:00pm on the Washington Middle School field at Punahou & King Street. The event is in line with the national Boys & Girls Club of America initiative to provide youth and their families the opportunity to play and have fun together. The event will feature large carnival games such as a rock wall, bouncers, an obstacle course and a dunk tank. Additionally, smaller game booths will be fun for kids of all ages and will provide opportunities to win prizes. Guests will enjoy music provided by The Fish featuring family favorite DJ Dawn O’Brien. Youth from various performance groups will provide entertainment in the gymnasium and a cool place for families to enjoy the concessions stand and fresh made sorbets. There will a family relay race and a bean bag game with grand prizes of an Xbox360 and a pack of four Wet’n’Wild admission passes. The event is being made possible by partnerships from Microsoft, Wet’n’Wild, Coca-Cola, E.A. Buck, Ross Dress for Less, Murphy’s Bar & Grill, Savers, and Washington Middle School. Parking will be available at Washington Middle School and Lunalilo Elementary School.
All proceeds from the event will go to support activities at the Spalding Clubhouse, an afterschool program that serves youth ages 7-17 for an annual fee of only $1.00. The Charles C. Spalding Clubhouse opened to the community more than 35 years ago and throughout the years, has grown to serve an average of over 1,000 youth each year. Guided by the framework of the Formula for Impact, youth become involved in programs that support a commitment to learning, positive values, healthy habits and high expectations for success as an adult. The Club provides ongoing relationships with caring mentors and connections to new friends in a positive environment, reinforcing a sense of belonging, personal accountability, civility and civic responsibility.
