Spartan Race Hawaii is pleased to announce the first Spartan Races in the Hawaiian Islands.
Spartan Race is the world’s leading obstacle racing event. “The unique obstacle course will demand every ounce of strength, ingenuity and animal instinct you thought you lost three generations ago,” said Joe Desena, Spartan Race Founder, adding that course details are kept secret until competitors experience them firsthand on race day.
More than 60 races will be held across the Americas, Europe and Australia in 2013. Specific locations will include the United States, Canada, Mexico, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Australia. More than 350,000 racers and 150,000 spectators are expected to participate in 2013. More countries will be added in 2014.
10,000 competitors and spectators from the Hawaiian islands representing every walk of life, age and stage and varying degrees of athletic abilities are expected to converge on Kualoa ranch to tackle the Spartan Sprint, a three-mile obstacle course, on August 17th, 2013).
Heats of up to 200 competitors each will start every 15 minutes from 6am. The day-long events will culminate with a lively festival featuring a kids course and fun challenges.
Spartan Race will also host the Spartan Kids Adventure Race benefiting Big Brothers, Big Sisters. A leader in the movement to help children learn life-long health and fitness habits, Big Brothers, Big Sisters also strives to raise awareness and develop programs that educate, empower and inspire kids to become and stay fit.
“Who is a Spartan Race competitor? Everyone, really – men, woman, students and seniors. Spartan Races are designed for all participants, beginners to hardcore warriors and marathon runners alike, to have fun and cross the finish line. You need a little physical conditioning and a taste for some adventure. This is not an extreme sporting event that will scare people away. It’s about the fun, getting dirty, getting down in the mud – something exciting and new,” Joe elaborated.
