(Honolulu) – Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii is partnering with Kōkua Hawaii Foundation, Mālama Point Panic, Surfrider Foundation O’ahu Chapter and BAMP Project to host the annual South Shore Cleanup on Saturday, June 21st in celebration of International Surfing Day.
The public is invited to meet at Point Panic in Kaka’ako Park at 9:30 a.m. Crew members from the three nonprofits will guide volunteers as they clean designated zones of the beach and surrounding areas. Following the cleanup at noon, participants are invited to attend an after cleanup pa’ina with live music by Paul Izak at Point Panic. There will be an additional check in location at Kapi’olani Park Bandstand with Surfrider Foundation.
Hula Grill is supplying free plastic-free, zero-waste lunches while supplies last. In addition to special games and raffles, volunteers will have the opportunity to win several prizes provided by BAMP Project and others — including tickets to the SOLD OUT upcoming Jack Johnson concert.
Sustainable Coastlines and their partners will have a booths set up to educate volunteers on the issues threatening ocean health, including marine debris and single-use plastics.
