(Maui)– The County of Maui Department of Housing and Human Concerns (DHHC) will be holding a Town Hall Meeting for Underage Drinking Prevention on February 8, 2012 at the Maui Economic Opportunity (MEO) meeting rooms located at 99 Mahalani Street, Wailuku.
The DHHC in conjunction with the Communities Mobilizing Change on Alcohol Program are looking for youth groups from Maui, Molokai and Lanai to coordinate and launch community projects in April, which is Alcohol Awareness month.
Grant funding of up to $2,000 is available for interested youth groups with qualified projects.
Also present at the meeting will be members of MEO’s Youth Action Committee project to speak about prevention of underage drinking.
The Town Hall meeting will be held at MEO, meeting rooms from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will include a light dinner.

The Town Hall meeting is made possible through the Hawaii Strategic Prevention Framework State Initiative Grant (SPF-SIG), a program funded through a cooperative agreement between the Hawaii State Department of Health’s Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division (ADAD) and the Center for Substance abuse Prevention (CSAP) of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA), Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc. and the County of Maui, Department of Housing and Human Concerns.
