(Kauai)– – If you’ve been thinking about how you can help older adults improve their quality of life, there’s an opportunity for you to serve as a volunteer leader in a senior program called Better Choices, Better Health (BCBH).
Designed by Stanford University, the Better Choices, Better Health workshop series aims to help seniors better manage their chronic conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, and anxiety.
Anyone interested in taking a leadership role in the well-tested program is encouraged to sign up for one of two orientation meetings that will be held at the Lîhu’e Civic Center, Pi‘ikoi Building.
The first meeting is scheduled on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 3 to 4 p.m., in the Agency on Elderly Affairs’ meeting room.
The second meeting is set for Friday, Jan. 25, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in conference room B.
To become a certified leader in the BCBH program, volunteers will need to complete a four-day training program scheduled on Feb. 5, 7, 12 and 14, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All of the sessions will be held in the Agency on Elderly Affairs’ meeting room.
To register or request special assistance or an auxiliary aid to attend the meeting, please contact Charlyn Nakamine at 241-4470.
