(Honolulu)–The flu vaccine is your best defense against the seasonal flu. Everyone 6 months of age and older should get the flu vaccine, but the vaccine is especially important for people who are at high risk of complications.
Assistant Secretary for Health Dr. Howard K. Koh:
“These people include pregnant women, children younger than 5, especially those younger than two years, people with chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, heart and lung disease, and, adults 65 and older.”
The flu shot is the only flu vaccine approved for pregnant women. They should not get the nasal spray.
You can help prevent the spread of germs by washing your hands often with soap and water, covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and practice healthy eating and sleeping habits.
