(Hilo)– Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home is proud to announce the addition of their new Director of Nursing, Tara Colburn, RN, BSN. As the Director of Nursing, Colburn provides oversight to the nursing team to ensure Yukio Okutsu’s residents are receiving the highest degree of quality care. Tara Colburn takes the place of Ferlita Acob who has become the Regional Nurse Consultant for the Hawaii region.
“I’m excited for this opportunity to work for Yukio Otsuko State Veterans Home and serve this population,” said Colbrun. “It’s a privilege to work with this team to provide care for our seniors and veterans.”
Colburn grew up in Honolulu and graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Shortly after graduation, Colburn moved to Hilo. She possesses five years of experience in long-term care nursing, starting as a Charge Nurse, then promoted as a clinical care coordinator, then followed by advancement to a Unit Manager at Life Care Center of Hilo.
“We are excited about the level professionalism and experience that Tara brings to our veteran community,” said Yukio Okutsu Administrator David R. Pettijohn. “She will be an asset to our very dedicated and professional team, we welcome her many talents to our organization.”
