(Hilo)—Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home has big plans for the Fourth of July this year, including activities for the residents and participating in the Hilo Bay 5K.
“The Fourth of July is a big deal for Yukio Okutsu, and for our amazing residents,” said Yukio Okutsu Administrator David R. Pettijohn, “We have a fun filled day planned both at our facility and off site, as we want the day to be full of patriotic joy and wonderful memories for our veterans.”
Activities at the Yukio Okutsu facility include Patriotic Zumba at 9:30 a.m., Patriotic Music with Korean Choir at 10:00 a.m., and live entrainment by Grandma Grace at 2:00 p.m. Activities will be taking place all day as Yukio Okutsu honors our veterans on this special day.
Yukio Okutsu staff will also be assisting ten residents as they attend the Hilo Bay 5K Run/Walk at Liliuokalani Gardens in Hilo for a special event, “A Salute to Our Veterans”. The event is hosted by the VFW Post 3830, and kicks off at 7:00 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for age groups for both runners and walkers, as well as special prizes for fastest male and female, largest group and youngest/oldest.
