(Oahu)– DHLM’s very first holiday tree transformed the 3rd floor of the Frank F. Fasi Municipal Building into a bright, playful Mikrokosmos — a small universe of color, creativity, and holiday spirit inspired by “My Universtar: Map of the K-pop Stars with BTS and Friends.” BT21 characters peeked out from the branches like cosmic companions, adding “Dynamite”-level sparkle to the white tree and creating a display that felt warm, fun, and imaginative. Custom-wrapped gift boxes, handmade ornaments, and K-pop–inspired alter-ego portraits brought personality to every corner, turning the space into our department’s own cheerful constellation.
The tree came together through a true team effort. Staff helped decorate, create ornaments, prepare displays, and contribute ideas that shaped the final look. Deputy Director Catherine Taschner — who served as the City’s official Tree Coordinator this year — supported DHLM’s decorating effort while balancing major department initiatives.
Private Secretary Momoyo Mitani led the project for DHLM, supported by Executive Assistant Jennifer Ontai and staff volunteers who helped bring the display to life. Their combined effort helped shape a tree full of character, humor, and holiday spirit.
Even our Finance Division joined in with a surprise — the debut of their very own fictional K-pop group, R.O.I., ranking #1 with the hit single, “Give Me Yo Money.” The cartoon band quickly became one of the most talked-about additions under the tree.
Director Auger said the energy behind the project captured what makes DHLM special. “Our first holiday tree reflects who we are as DHLM — a team that shows up for each other. Everyone contributed in their own way, and the final result is something the whole department should be proud of. I want to thank the entire team, and give a special shoutout to Momo and Jenn for helping guide the vision and keeping all the pieces moving.”
“Every member of DHLM contributed to the tree in their own way, and I was so happy to witness the holiday spirit it brought to our brand new department,” said Jennifer Ontai, Executive Assistant in DHLM’s admin division. “It truly was a team effort that brought Momo’s creative vision to life. I hope what we created together reminds us all to enjoy the little moments and the people around us.”
The finished tree didn’t just brighten the hallway — it captured the spirit of DHLM’s first holiday season. Creative, collaborative, and grounded in the people who make up this department, the display became a reminder to shine, smile, and enjoy the light we create together. If this first tree is any indication of the traditions ahead, DHLM’s holiday seasons will only grow brighter from here.
