(Kauai)– The Department of Public Works has scheduled four community meetings to obtain input and identify issues regarding the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for a new municipal landfill and resource recovery park.
The meetings will run from 6 to 8 p.m. and will be held as follows:
n Tuesday, May 22 King Kaumuali’i Elementary School
n Wednesday, May 23 Kekaha Neighborhood Center
n Tuesday, May 29 Kîlauea Elementary School
n Wednesday, May 30 old Kôloa Courthouse located next to the Kôloa Neighborhood Center
During the meetings, the county’s consultant R.M. Towill Corporation will discuss the EIS process, summarize the tasks completed thus far, and provide an overview of its proposed action plan.
Following the consultant’s presentation, the public will have the opportunity to provide their perspective on the EIS relative to the landfill and resource recovery park.
Written comments will be also accepted at the meetings or by mail sent to: R.M. Towill Corporation; Re. Kaua’i County New Landfill EIS; 2024 North King St., suite 200; Honolulu, HI 96819.
Written comments should be postmarked no later than July 30, 2012.
