Said UHM Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Graduate Education Reed Dasenbrock, “The School of Architecture plays a crucial role in the state of Hawaii as the primary provider of architects and other professionals responsible for the built environment. I am thrilled that someone of the national stature of Daniel Friedman will be the School’s next leader.”
Added UHM Chancellor Tom Apple, “Dr. Friedman clearly has an impressive academic and administrative experience, and strong recognition nationally and internationally. UH Mānoa is very fortunate to hire someone of his caliber. He will be instrumental in continuing our international collaborations, as well as moving ahead with the only DArch program in the nation. A warm mahalo to Professor Thomas Bingham, who has been serving as Interim Dean of the School of Architecture during the search process. His dedicated service to the School and to the University is greatly appreciated.”
