(Oahu)– The University Center, West Hawai‘i at Pālamanui will host a Degree Preparation Workshop at the new Hawai‘i Community College – Pālamanui campus. The hour-long workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov.1, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the Koali Building (A), room 101.
This month’s workshop highlights the distance-based bachelor’s degree programs and certificates offered by the University of Hawai‘i at West Oahu campus.
Janet Duke, UH West Oahu academic advisor, will discuss:
- Distance-based bachelor’s in Business Administration degree with tracks available in General Business, Accounting, Marketing, Hospitality and Tourism.
- Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration Degree with tracks available in General Public Administration, Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, Health Care Administration, Justice Administration;
- Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences Degree with tracks available in: Early Childhood Education, Political Science, and Psychology; as well as the available Certificate Programs.
Duke’s overview of UH West Oahu programs will be followed by an overview of all other distance-based degrees (bachelor’s, master, and doctoral levels) available at the University Center, West Hawai’i by educational specialist Carrie Kuwada Phipps.
The University Center, West Hawaii delivers over 50 degree and certificate programs from across the 10-campus University of Hawai‘i system. That means West Hawai‘i residents can obtain degrees from UH Mānoa, UH Hilo and UH West O‘ahu while living in West Hawai‘i. The University Center provides the local student support for the distance learning degrees offered through the center.
At the Degree Preparation Workshop, in addition to learning about what degrees are offered in West Hawai‘I, attendees will also learn about the steps to move forward; key deadlines; methods of program delivery; what it takes to be a successful distance learning student; and more.
