(Kaua’i)– The County of Kaua‘iwill host two public meetingstoprovide information on the county’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the new Kaua‘i landfill to be located on Ma‘alo Road.
Meetings will be held at the following times and locations:
Tuesday, May 8, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at theLīhu‘e Neighborhood Center, 3353 Eono Street, Līhu‘e; and
Wednesday, May 9, 2018, from 6 to 8:30 pm, at the Kapa‘a Neighborhood Center, 4491 Kou Street, Kapa‘a.
The meetings will provide the community with the opportunity to learn and comment about the project from the county’s DEIS team in an open house setting. Stations will be set up to provide information about the modern landfill design planned at Ma‘alo Road, the environmental and land use features, and the studies and surveys performed for the DEIS. The county will provide a brief introduction, a summary of the history of the project, and the findings of the DEIS.
The public will be provided the opportunity to give oral comments on the DEIS that will be considered in the preparation of the Final EIS. Anyone who wishes may also submit written comments on comment forms provided at the meetings, or by mail with a postmark no later than May 23, 2018.
