(HONOLULU) – Mayor Rick Blangiardi has requested that Honolulu Hale be illuminated in the color purple from sundown on Sunday, October 29 through sunrise on Saturday, November 4 to observe Statewide Homelessness Awareness Week.
“There is no “one-size-fits-all” solution to ending homelessness, it is a very complicated challenge” said Mayor Blangiardi. “It is only through continued collaboration with other levels of government, nonprofits, and other community partners that we can create a system that meets the individual needs of our most vulnerable population. There is still so much to be done but I am proud of the work we have been able to do so far with our CORE team and our Department of Community Services to create systemic changes so that every person experiencing homelessness has a pathway out and that those at-risk have ample opportunities to prevent themselves from falling into homelessness.”
The State, Counties, Bridging the Gap (neighbor island Continuum of Care), and Partners in Care (Oʻahu Continuum of Care) are holding a statewide Homeless and Housing Conference on November 3rd and 4th. This conference is open to the public. To learn more and to register, please visit: https://www.hihac.org/events
