(Hawaii)– From the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, I’m Nicholas Garlow with HHS HealthBeat.
The symptoms are similar to that of the common cold. Respiratory syncytial virus, known as RSV, can include fever, lack of appetite, runny nose, and coughing. You can get RSV at any age and more than once.
Dr. Eileen Scheinder is at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“In older children and adults, RSV infection is usually milder. Most people recover in a week or two.”
It is contagious, through coughing or sneezing. So protect yourself using these tips.
“Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. Cover your mouth and nose with your arm, sleeve, or crook of the elbow when coughing or sneezing. And clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, such as toys or doorknobs, especially if someone is sick.”
