(Honolulu) – July 1, 2015 –Kaiser Permanente announced plans for a new state-of-the-art facility on Kauai. The Lihue Clinic will be located at 4366 Kukui Grove Street, on the ground floor of the Kukui Grove Health Center.
Construction is scheduled to begin September 2015, with plans to open the new facility in January 2016.
“Our customers encouraged us to open a Kauai facility to improve access for their employees,” said Mary Ann Barnes, RN, Kaiser Permanente Hawaii president. “We are excited to bring more services to Kauai that will benefit our members and help the entire community.”
The new Lihue Clinic will offer two primary care providers and lab and pharmacy services. The clinic will also be equipped with state-of-the-art telehealth capabilities, allowing patients greater access to specialty care services.
“It’s a privilege to bring our integrated care delivery system to Kauai, with physicians, pharmacy, and lab services all in one location,” said Geoffrey Sewell, MD, president and executive medical director of the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group. “This new infrastructure on the Garden Island also means we’ll be able to enhance specialty care access through initiatives including our new telecare and teledermatology consults.”
Kaiser Permanente will maintain existing contracts with Kauai physicians, so the 2,400 current Kaiser Permanente members will have the option of continuing to receive care from their current Kauai provider or changing to one of the Kaiser Permanente primary care providers when the clinic opens next year.
