(Honolulu) – McDonald’s Restaurants of Hawaii is proud to partner with the Hawaii State Public Library System (HSPLS) in sponsoring this year’s Children’s Summer Reading Program, “It’s Book Time with Ronald McDonald.” The program kicked off on Sunday, June 1, and will run through Saturday, July 12. During this period, children who visit their local library and read at least one book per week are eligible to receive a weekly reading incentive, including a free McDonald’s ice cream cone coupon, while supplies last. Parents are encouraged to register children now for the Children’s Summer Reading Program that continues through July 12 at public libraries across the state.
“We are delighted to again receive the generous support of McDonald’s Restaurants of Hawaii for this year’s Children’s Summer Reading Program,” said Susan Nakata, manager of HSPLS’ Library Development Services Section. “We greatly value McDonald’s commitment to encouraging children to keep reading during summer break.”
A festive feature of this year’s program is the return of a friendly face, Ronald McDonald, who will appear in “It’s Book Time with Ronald McDonald” at several library locations on Oahu. McDonald’s regional staff, owner/operators and managers will also read books aloud alongside Ronald.
“McDonald’s is proud to be a long-standing supporter of this program,” said Melanie Okazaki, regional marketing manager of McDonald’s of Hawaii. “Families are important to McDonald’s, and we are thrilled to interact with them in this educational program. We’re excited to have McDonald’s team members participate in readings on Oahu and the neighbor islands.”
