(LĪHU‘E) – In recognition of March being Women’s History Month, the Kaua‘i County Committee on the Status of Women (CSW) will host a special presentation by U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.
The event will be held at the Kaua‘i Museum on Wednesday, March 19 from 6 to 8 p.m.
“Tulsi is making history in Hawai‘i and across the nation,” said Edie Ignacio-Neumiller, vice chair of the CSW. “Although she’s only 32-years-old, Tulsi has already accomplished a lot and serves as a great role model. I encourage the girls and women in the community to come and hear how Tulsi, who was a shy and introverted young girl, grew up and catapulted into the limelight by following her desire to serve.”
At 15, Gabbard co-founded the Healthy Hawai’i Coalition, a non-profit whose mission is to teach children to take care of themselves and the environment.
In 2002, she ran for the state Senate and became the youngest person ever elected to the Hawai‘i State Legislature. A year later, Gabbard joined the Hawai’i National Guard and served two tours of duty.
She is currently serving her first term as a member of the U.S. Congress.

The Kaua‘i County CSW is part of the Hawai‘i State Commission on the Status of Women, which strives to advance the status of women and girls by acting as a catalyst for positive change through advocacy, education, collaboration and program development.
The CSW meets on the second Wednesday of the month. Its next scheduled meeting is on March 12, 5 p.m., Līhu‘e Civic Center, Mo’ikeha Building, Liquor Commission conference room.
The CSW meetings are open to the public.
