(Kaneohe)– WCC’s “College is a Family Affair” on Wed., April 18 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. in Hale ‘Akoakoa 105 is an event geared to families whose members may be thinking about attending college. This introduction to college for the whole family is free, and includes childcare and dinner. To reserve a seat, call 235-7454.
“This event is not just for recent high school graduates or students planning ahead but also, mom and dad, who are thinking that the time to attend college is now! There is something everybody can learn about this major life transition,” said Carla Rogers, Counselor for Adult Learners.
“College is a Family Affair” offers families the opportunity to get helpful information about going to college regardless of what school is chosen to attend. Potential students will be introduced to WCC staff and faculty and programs, and focus on some of the most common questions people have about college like financial aid, admissions, course scheduling, support services, work study, career exploration, and more.
“As students enter into higher education, their success often depends on the support of their family. We will offer tools to empower the entire family to reach individual educational goals,” said Ardis Eschenberg, WCC Vice-Chancellor of Student Affairs, “Our message is, ‘If you want more education and career training, we can help you get what you need. Windward Community College is your community resource for higher education.”
