(LĪHU‘E) – The Historic County Building will be lit with pink lights through Thursday, Oct. 31, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“Breast cancer affects all members of our community – our mothers, daughters, coworkers, colleagues, friends, and family,” said Mayor Derek S. K. Kawakami. “It is crucial for women to get regular check-ups and remain vigilant, and for everyone to recognize the importance of breast cancer awareness.”
After skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer in American women and the risk increases with age, according to the American Cancer Society.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign to increase awareness, especially about the importance of early screen testing and to promote research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and ultimately, a cure.
